KCTR Graduate wins $500 Grant to create “Calming Corner” at J.A. Rogers

Uncategorized / October 27, 2017

Congrats to Kathryn Zubia, winner of The Foot Spot’s 2017 grant competition! On October 25th, Kathryn and her students at J.A. Rogers Elementary received a $500 check from local business The Foot Spot. Kathryn plans to use the grant funds to create a “calming corner” in her classroom, a feature that will assist students who need space to decompress from external factors that may limit their ability to fully engage in learning. Kathryn’s calming corner supports trauma-informed education practices and will be a great addition to all of the quality support students are already receiving at J.A. Rogers in the Kansas City Public School District.
