Our mission is to build brighter futures for children and adults with disabilities by providing comprehensive educational, vocational, and therapeutic services.
Ability KC brings together Children’s Therapeutic Learning Center and Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City. Whether an individual is born with or experiences a disability, that person does not have to be defined by limitations. We invite you to join the journey in helping others and changing conversations from disability to ability.
After the Harvest rescues nutritious fruits and vegetables from going to waste and donates them to agencies that serve hungry people, primarily in Greater Kansas City.
Our volunteers glean after the harvest, picking what’s left in farmers’ fields and picking up already harvested leftover produce. The majority of the funds we raise helps secure semi-truckloads of donated produce that might otherwise end up in landfills. After the Harvest, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the largest produce donor to Harvesters—The Community Food Network.
Reach Out and Read gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together.
Reach Out and Read Kansas City has three programs to ensure as many children as possible in the Kansas City area are provided with books of their own, and enter school ready to succeed: School Readiness Program, Hooked on Books Program, and Kindergarten Book Bag Program.
The Pell Project exists because undocumented, college-bound students do not have access to federal financial aid.
We provide undocumented students with a significant private scholarship, equivalent to the US Pell Grant to break down economic barriers to college.
